$750 Award for Student Composer of WSMTA Teacher!
SMTA has launched this award as a means to support student and teacher composers, and encourages composition of new sonatinas. An original composition from a student (age 18 and under) of a WSMTA member.
Deadline for submission of a complete sonatina: Dec. 1, 2023
Winner will be announced January 1, 2024

brief email stating your full name, age, email, phone number, name of teacher. Put “Sonatina Festival commission submission” in subject line.
PDF file of your original composition, with no identifying information in the document itself.
MP3 or WAV audio file.
The new sonatina will be premiered at the Marsha Wright Sonatina Festival in April 2024. It should be early-intermediate level, can be for any instrument, limit key signature to 1 or 2 sharps or flats. Compound meter such as 6/8 is OK.
